4 Energizing Morning Yoga Moves to Follow

Here are four energizing morning yoga moves to follow.

Back Bend

Stand up and reach towards the sky while arching your back while inhaling; exhale and fold forward.

Child’s Pose

Aside from helping you become centered and ready for the day, child’s pose also helps to gently stretch out your hips, lower back, and lats. To do child’s pose, come to your hands and knees on your mat. Spread your knees as wide as your mat goes, and keep the tops of your feet on the floor. Fold-down, bringing your forehead to the floor, with your stomach resting between your thighs.

Cat/Cow Pose

The cat/cow pose is a good, simple, energizing morning pose. To do this pose, begin on all fours with your wrists directly beneath your shoulders and your knees below your hips. For “cat,” exhale; at the same time, round your back upwards while dropping your head and tailbone towards the mat. To transition to “cow,” inhale while at the same time arching your back, and tilting your chin and tailbone towards the ceiling. Repeat this cycle five times.

Downward Facing Dog

Another classic starting yoga pose, downward facing dog is an easy yoga pose to incorporate into your morning yoga routine. Again, start on all fours. Next, tuck your toes and extend your legs until they are straight, bringing your body into an upside down “V” shape. Try to hold the pose for the time it takes to take five deep breaths.
